2. What Is Covered
DeRUCCI's warranty against defects covers the replacement or repair of any product that has a manufacturing or material defect that is not the result of normal wear and tear, or a natural characteristic of the material used. Coverage applies to products purchased in Australia and used for normal domestic purposes only.
You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if they fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
If a defect caused by faulty workmanship or materials appears during the warranty period, DeRUCCI or a designated third-party appointed by DeRUCCI may perform an in-home inspection to determine if a manufacturing fault exists.
3. Warranty Exclusions
To the maximum extent permitted by law, and subject to the Australian Consumer Law, this warranty does not cover:
- Normal wear and tear, or the cost of transporting the product to or from the place of repair or replacement
- Fading and creasing of leathers and fabrics
- Softening and shaping of foam and fillings over time
- Scars, marks, differing pore density and colour variations in leather
- Minor size and weight variations (up to 5%) due to hand upholstery
- Damage caused by spills such as acid, solvents, dyes, ink, paint or bodily fluids
- Damage from improper cleaning, negligence, chemical treatment, or exposure to sun, extreme heat or bright light
- Mattress soiling or burning, odours from new foam, comfort preference, sheet fit, or damage from improper bed base use (including sprung or adjustable bed bases or slats spaced more than 6cm apart)
- Normal body impressions less than 10% of mattress height
- Repairs made or attempted by unauthorised service providers
- Use or maintenance not in accordance with manufacturer's instructions
- Abuse, misuse, dropping, crushing, impact with hard surfaces, exposure to extreme heat or cold, or use after partial failure
- Modification, incorrect adjustment or operation, use with inappropriate accessories, or inconsistent electrical supply
- Defects made known to the customer on clearance or display items sold as-is
- Products used for commercial purposes
- Inability to provide sufficient proof of purchase from DeRucci
4. Special Notes on Materials
For better presentation and prevention of stain penetration, a resin film coating is used on marble (natural or artificial) tops. However, this surface is soft and can scratch easily. We recommend using a table mat or considering a lamination service from our partnered third-party provider. Please speak with our showroom team for details.
Natural marble products will display variations in background colour, veining distribution, veining pattern and overall appearance. These differences are natural characteristics and are not considered defects.
Timber used in DeRUCCI products is a natural material that may show distinctive markings, uneven edges, splits, patches and colour variations. Such characteristics are natural and not considered defects.
5. How to Make a Warranty Claim
- Step 1 - Cease using the product immediately after a defect appears
- Step 2 - Notify DeRUCCI within 7 days after the defect appears
- Step 3 - Provide a copy of your original Sales Order or tax invoice
- Step 4 - Lodge a claim by emailing or contacting our showroom directly with your order number, delivery date and a clear description of the fault or defect
The purchaser must bear the expense of making the claim and all related costs (freight, house calls, labour) at standard DeRUCCI rates unless otherwise required by law. If DeRUCCI determines a manufacturing defect exists, DeRUCCI will elect whether to repair or replace the product or part.
6. Consumer Guarantees
Our products come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. To make a claim under consumer guarantees, you must notify DeRUCCI in writing within 24 hours of delivery, providing your order number, delivery date and reasonable details of the issue. DeRUCCI or its appointed third party may conduct an inspection to assess whether a manufacturing fault exists.
Full details of your consumer rights may be found at www.consumerlaw.gov.au.
7. Care and Maintenance
You must take reasonable care of your product to ensure its longevity and maintain its condition. Failure to properly care for your product, including general use, exposure to sunlight, cleaning of leather or fabric upholstery, and maintenance of timber, marble, glass or chrome finishes, may result in damage and void the warranty. If you are unsure about how to care for your product, please contact DeRUCCI for guidance.
For detailed care instructions by product type, please refer to our DeRucci Care Guide.
